Concerto Competition
The Waukesha Area Symphonic Band is proud to present its annual Concerto Competition. The purpose of this competition is to provide inspiration and performing experience to young musicians. This is an opportunity for students with advanced/strong skills to experience the dedication and commitment of an audition. Eligibility: All instrumentalists that are in 9th through 12th grades and attending school in Waukesha, Milwaukee, Washington, Ozaukee, Dodge, Jefferson, Walworth and Racine counties.
Instruments:
This competition is open to all band instrumentalists. If there is a band accompaniment for your solo piece, you may audition on any wind or percussion instrument. You may also audition on the piano.

For programming purposes, the repertoire for this competition may only be chosen from pieces that are scored for band accompaniment. Check below for a list of recommended compositions. Participants are encouraged to choose from this list or to research on their own, other pieces with band accompaniment. (Exception: Works for which conductor's scores and band parts can only be obtained through rental agreements with the publisher, instead of direct purchase cannot be considered for the competition. First Place - $750 and potential invitation to perform as soloist with the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band at Carroll University on the Spring concert.
